statement of intent

My intentions are to create two front cover pages and two content pages to an entertainment magazine called 'Outtake'. My magazine will be produced by Hearst Magazines UK and I will also design and make a website to promote the product. In order to meet the requirements of my chosen brief i will use representation, language, industries and audiences to the full of my ability to be able to get the most out of my coursework, these will help my work gain meaning attracting a wider audience. For one of the editions i will have a female actress and a male actor on the front cover as the main image, the woman will be looking into the camera with a stern facial expression and the male will have his head down and looking at the floor, she will look possessive by having her hand on his shoulder to make her seem like she owns him, this representation will make the female subject look powerful and important and the male look weak and vulnerable, this links to the film name "He's ...

location info

Image
This task will help me access the location where i will be taking my photos of my models and how it will be set up, i will consider the risks and hazards in the location to make it safe for my models and myself. This will ensure that my photos can be taken efficiently and safely. My location is at Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in room G7, this room is used for media classes which gives me access to a photo shoot background with choice of multiple colours including charcoal grey, white light pink and cherry red. Using this media class it also comes with professional lighting equipment and the large room will help me get the correct angles i want and different shots. There are some hazards in this location such as the wires attached to the lighting equipment, this could be a trip hazard for myself and my models. To overcome this i will warn everyone in the room about it and block off the corner of the room where the wires will come out of to prevent any injuries. Another hazard cou...

Schedule

Image
For this post i will work out what times and how long i will give myself on each task, I will need to get all my coursework done within 5 months, starting in march and ending at the latest in July. This schedule will give me a good plan to stick by too make sure i get everything done within the time I've been given, i will give myself some float time incase i get set back by illnesses or other absences, this means that i will aim to get it done within 4 months. T h i s post helped me figure out my time frames, i gave myself on average a week each to complete each final outcome (two front covers, two contents pages and a website), this is 6 hours on each piece, if i complete this quicker than the time I've given myself i will be able to use the last month to go over all my research and other coursework to add improvements and make changes to things which have happened along the way.

Casting

I am going to look into different models for my magazine and look at their pros and cons for the role they're going to pose for and how suitable they are for it. This will help me gain an understanding of what different types of audiences they will attract and how they will benefit my magazine. I am hoping to use models of a similar age to the target audience to make them relatable and use a diverse amount of people. I found that the models I am choosing will mainly be suitable for the roles they're posing for as their age and appearance suits it, however, trying to find suitable times in order to photograph the models will be hard due to their commitments inside and outside of school. I will overcome this by booking people in to take pictures or compromising and finding a suitable time and area to take pictures by adapting to the background they are in.

Product Style Profile

Image
In this post i will design multiple front covers and websites and gain feedback on each one to help me come to a final design for each. These sketches will influence my stylistic decisions. For the first front cover design i will have two puffs to show exclusives and prizes/competitions, i will have a section at the bottom called 'Plus' to highlight what else is inside the magazine, ill have in bold well known names in the film industry to attract people more, i'm putting "how can you get involved?" at the top because it grabs the audiences attention as they feel like they're being directed making them want to get involved and i will also have a section called "first look!" which would make the audience feel like they're finding out information before other people. For the second front cover design i will have the main character taller and leaning on the male because it shows the comedy behind the stereotypical gender roles being swapped, i...

I am doing an entertainment magazine, this requires one front cover and two contents pages of the first two editions of a new entertainment magazine that is being launched by Hearst Magazines UK and the working website for the magazine. Minimum requirements: Statement of Intent (approx. 500 words)1  Entertainment magazine covers and contents pages: two or three pages for each of the first two editions (based on choice of single or double page spread).  Magazine distribution method: Content must be suitable for retail distribution.  Number of web pages: One homepage and one linked page.  Cross-media production target audience: a fun-loving 16–25 year old mass market demographic. My survey results fit in with the chosen target audience as they showed that my main audience was females aged16-17 therefore this matches the brief.
